The history of Oceanside begins in the agriculturally-rich San Luis Rey Valley, which was first explored by the Spanish Explorer Portola in 1769, followed by the founding of the Mission San Luis Rey de Francia in 1798. It's gone through many changes since then, and has come to be one of the most sought after vacation spots in North County. It's one of the first beach towns you encounter heading south on highway 5 in your drive to the heart of San Diego, which ends at the Mexican border in Tijuana. Oceanside has several communities to choose from when looking for a home and in my opinion is the last frontier in beach living with it's location so close to the beach, and beautiful painted sky sunsets! It's no wonder why people have been coming here for years to live life and play!
