Known for being “The Jewel” of the West Coast, La Jolla is one of the nicest places to live in San Diego. La Jolla has some of the best coastline in all of California, and offers some of the most expensive homes money can buy in Southern California home living. Best known for wild life research with Scripps Institute of Oceanography and the Salk Institute, La Jolla has captured many hearts who visit here. Celebrities from various fields call San Diego their home (if not home, at least a second home). But the one celebrity who lived in La Jolla was it's very own Dr. Suess or Theodor Seuss Geisel, famously known for his creative Cat in the Hat children's books. Theodor Geisel, along with his wife Audrey Geisel, lived out their end years in a quaint but lavish home in La Jolla on Mt. Soledad, affectionately deemed the “Seuss Home.” Their house, which still stands next to the Mt. Soledad cross overlooking the Pacific Ocean amidst the beautiful San Diego back drop. La Jolla is a place that's a must see and you should plan on staying a while and take in the beauty of The Jewel!
